Sustainability and Scaling Up

Sustainability
1. TAL funded the initial 2 million RMB in seed capital. The local government has also supported in its poverty alleviation subsudies to ensure the project’s smooth operation.
2. The project aligns with China’s national goal of educational informatization (ICT).
Continuous attention and investment from the central and local governments can be expected. With an emphasis on innovation and new technologies, it looks to improve the educational infrastructure and hardware in poor regions.
3. TAL maintains regular communication and cooperation with the local government and keeps updating software and all teaching content.
4. Supporting continuous professional development and the improvement of language skills of local teachers ensures its sustainability and continued effectiveness.
Scaling up
1. Content Expansion: this program currently covers basic Mandarin content and study material for preschools and primary schools students (grades one through six). In the future, we will continue expanding content resources and materials, based on contemporary Mandarin vocabulary and national standards.
2. We plan to expand our program to three more ethnic regions in China (Linxia Hui in Gansu Province, Liangshan Yi in Sichuan Province, and Nujiang Lisu in Yunnan Province). These are extremely impoverished areas. Experience drawn from this program will be employed for the expansion and duplication of future projects. Cooperating with UNESCO, we are ready to extend our program to other developing countries in need.
